This policy explains how Estimation Creation ("we", "us") collects and uses data when you visit the site or use the app to run real-time estimation sessions.
1. What data we collect
Everyone using a session:
- The display name you enter when you join a session.
- Whether you join as a participant or a spectator, and the estimates (card values) you submit during a session.
- Basic technical data (IP address, browser and device type) needed to serve the app.
Session data (names, votes, issues) is held in memory only while the session is active and is discarded when the room is closed or times out. It is not used to build a profile of you.
If you create an account: your email address, username, a securely hashed password, and any custom card sets you save.
If you don't create an account: any custom card sets you create, and your name and preferences, are stored on your own device (in your browser's local storage), not on our servers. This lets your card sets stay available on that device between visits.

3. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We use standard hosting infrastructure to run the app. We may share data where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Estimation Creation, our users, or others.
4. How long we keep data
- Live session data (names, votes, issues) is kept only for the duration of the session and cleared shortly after everyone leaves.
- Account data is kept until you delete your account.
- Custom card sets stored on your device stay in your browser until you clear them (or clear your browser storage).
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, contact us. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Card sets and preferences stored on your device can be removed at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this site.
6. Cookies & local storage
We use a small amount of essential first-party storage (cookies and browser local storage) that the app needs to work, such as remembering your name for a session and storing any card sets you create on your device. These cannot be turned off because the app cannot function without them.
We use analytics cookies only if you opt in. When you first visit we show a cookie banner; nothing but essential storage is used until you make a choice. You can change your choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” button shown on the page.

7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and hashed passwords. No system is 100% secure, but we take this seriously.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
